This Josephine Foundation partner program, the Aquinas Honor Society of the Immaculate Conception School, Jamaica Estates, New York, provides academic enrichment opportunities in the Arts and Humanities for young students. Over the years, their creative programs have developed with aim of educating beyond the confines of the classroom. Many projects are hands-on activities and, although started locally, have reached both national and international audiences. They have enhanced and reached wider audiences by their partnership with a number of organizations, including The Richmond Hill Historical Society, the Maple Grove Cemetery Association, the Queens Borough Public Library and Archives, the Prospect Cemetery Association, the Anti Defamation League, the Arcadia Publishing Company, the New York City Archivists Roundtable, the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation, Lion Television and the History Detectives, the Jamaica Estates Association, St. John’s University and the New York City Parks Department, along with support from New York City politicians such as Congress members Gary Ackerman and Gregory Meeks, State Senators Serphin Maltese, Frank Padavan and Joseph Addabbo, NYC Council members Dennis Gallagher and Elizabeth Crowley and Queens Borough President Helen Marshall. The students of the Aquinas Honor Society have received admiration, respect, appreciation and garnered many awards and accolades over the years.
